Santa Rosa Civic Engagement

Greetings!

The City of Santa Rosa, like the County of Sonoma, is increasing its efforts at transparency in government.  It posts agendas to meetings to its website on a timely basis, and recordings of its Council meetings to its YouTube Channel.  Lately, the Council has been holding Council Subcommittee meetings wherein study sessions on important topics have been held.  These have not been routinely posted to the YouTube Channel.

Here is a link to a presentation by Raissa de la Rosa on the Economic Development Draft Strategy Review & the Equity-Economic-Sustainability Criteria Overlay Consideration Opportunity which I uploaded to my own YouTube Channel:

Economic Development Subcommittee, Nov 9, 2021

Today, the Council Study session contained two agenda items which continued to address important civic engagement initiatives.   The first was a joint session with the Santa Rosa Planning Commission which featured a presentation by Beatrice Guerrero Auna on the 2050 General Plan Housing Element Update.  Following that, the Council heard her report on the Equity Priority Communities Work Plan.

Here is a link to a video on YouTube of the November 16, 2021 meeting containing both study sessions.

Finally, later in the same City Council meeting, Magali Telles of the Office of Civic Engagement reported on the Declaring Racism a Public Health and Human Rights Crisis in Santa Rosa.

Four recent presentations illustrating four different departmental efforts involving pretty intense civic engagements.

Wednesday, November 17th, City Charter Review Committee, First Meeting
